One of the sweetest, but saddest things is when your little one gets a balloon from her favorite place and then loses it a split second before getting in the car. I remember that happening with each of my kids when they were much much younger, and it was SO SAD to them. One of my favorite children's books ever is "Where Do Balloons Go?" by Jamie Lee Curtis. We would always come home after the 'big balloon loss' and read that story together. I highly recommend it. Fast forward to this day. My girl is a big girl now, and NO WAY is she going to cry over balloons!!! (??) We took a little roadtrip together to go to a baby shower, and my wonderful sister by heart, Katie, decided that Carlie needed ALL the balloons from the shower to come home with her. Not to spoil all the fun, but SERIOUSLY? THIS momma is not driving two hours home with all these balloons, a crate, a very young puppy, AND a easily carsick little girl. So... we did what any good photographer mom would do, and we set them free over the city. It took some convincing, but she let go of them. The resulting pictures make me smile. And I was able to drive home without pulling my hair out. ;)
